Quick Answer
A reliable tile installation system includes surface preparation, primer on difficult substrates, waterproofing in wet areas, the correct adhesive for tile size and location, proper placement and levelling, flexible grout, and final seal details.
This page helps homeowners, contractors, architects, and investors choose the correct tile adhesive, grout, waterproofing, primer, and installation build-up for durable floors, walls, wet rooms, terraces, and commercial spaces.
Best for standard indoor ceramic tiles
MrFIX EXTRA 300, DYVAL Klebe, or similar standard adhesive systems are suitable for many stable indoor substrates.
Best for larger or porcelain tiles
Higher-performance flexible adhesive systems such as EXTRA 400 Fiber, FLEX 500, or FINAL KERAMIK support stronger adhesion.
Most important wet-area detail
Bathroom, shower, balcony, and terrace tiles should be installed over a suitable waterproofing membrane before adhesive and grout.

RECOMMENDED SYSTEM
Standard Tile Installation System
Tile performance depends on the complete system. Failures often start when preparation, primer, waterproofing, adhesive, grout, or movement details are skipped.
01
Surface Preparation
Clean substrate, repair weak spots, and level the surface.
02
Prime Difficult Surfaces
Use bonding primer on smooth concrete or low-absorption bases.
03
Waterproofing
Apply membrane in bathrooms, balconies, showers, and wet areas.
04
Tile Adhesive Application
Use suitable adhesive based on tile size, substrate, and area.
05
Tile Placement & Levelling
Install with proper spacing, adhesive coverage, and alignment.
What This Solves
Common Tile Failure Problems Our Installation Systems Solve
Tile failures often come from using the wrong system, not the tile itself. A professional installation build-up combines substrate preparation, primer, waterproofing where needed, adhesive, grout, and finishing details.
Tiles Lifting or Debonding
Correct primer and adhesive selection helps tiles stay bonded to the substrate.
Hollow Sounding Tiles
Proper adhesive coverage and placement reduce voids beneath tiles.
Cracked Grout Joints
Flexible grout and correct joint design help reduce cracking in movement-prone areas.
Water Seepage in Bathrooms
Wet-area membranes help protect the substrate from hidden moisture damage.
Uneven Tile Levels
Substrate levelling and careful tile placement improve surface appearance and usability.
Weak Adhesion on Difficult Surfaces
Bonding primers help improve adhesion on smooth concrete or low-absorption bases.
Stains and Mold in Joints
Suitable grout selection and sealed details help protect joints from moisture-related issues.
Failure on Balconies and Exterior Areas
Flexible adhesive, waterproofing, drainage, and grout details support exterior durability.
IDEAL PROJECT TYPES
Suitable for Residential, Commercial & Wet-Area Tile Projects
DECISION GUIDE
Standard Adhesive vs High-Performance Adhesive vs Grouting Systems
Standard Tile Adhesive
Best for laying ceramic and mosaic tiles on standard interior and exterior surfaces including concrete, cement floors, and plaster.
High-Performance Adhesive
Best for large format tiles, heated floors, terraces, and demanding conditions where higher flexibility and extended open time are required.
Tile Grouting System
Best for filling joints on all tile types including porcelain, natural stone, marble, granite, glass mosaic, and agglomerates.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
EXTRA 300 is a cement-based tile adhesive classified as C1T according to EN 12004, suitable for laying ceramic and mosaic tiles on floors, walls, and ceilings both indoors and outdoors. For large format tiles or more demanding conditions, combining EXTRA 300 with FIXELASTIC upgrades performance to class C2TES2 with extended open time and improved flexibility.
FIXELASTIC is an additive mixed with EXTRA 300 instead of water to significantly improve flexibility and adhesion. It is recommended for heated floors, terraces, garages, swimming pools, bathrooms, and any surface exposed to movement or water. The combination meets class C2TES2 requirements under EN 12004.
NANOFILL is suitable for grouting interior and exterior floors and walls across all tile types including ceramic, porcelain, terracotta, natural stone, marble, granite, agglomerates, and glass mosaics. It handles joints from 2 to 20mm, is UV resistant, and enriched with iron pigments for colour stability.
Yes. For heated floor systems, use EXTRA 300 combined with FIXELASTIC additive to achieve the flexibility needed to accommodate thermal expansion and contraction. This combination is specifically recommended for underfloor heating applications.
Yes. When FIXELASTIC additive is incorporated into the NANOFILL mix in the ratio of 5kg grout to 500g additive diluted with 1kg of water, it becomes suitable for terraces, heated floors, garages, storage areas, bathrooms, swimming pools, and fountains. It is also UV resistant, making it reliable for outdoor applications.
EXTRA 300 can be applied to concrete, cement-based floors, and cement plaster in both indoor and outdoor environments. The surface should be clean, stable, and free from dust, grease, or loose material before application.
Yes. Share your floor or wall area dimensions, tile size, joint width, and substrate type and the EDER Trade team can recommend the right products and estimate the quantities needed for your project.
