Description
KEMOCID Wood Base Coat
KEMOCID is a protective base coat for wood, formulated for all types of wooden structures exposed to outdoor conditions. It contains 3-iodo-2-propynyl butylcarbamate, giving the dry film fungicidal and algicidal protection against mold, fungi, and algae growth.
Beyond protection, KEMOCID improves adhesion for the next coating layer and reduces how much finishing stain you need to use, making it a practical first step before applying wood stains or pigmented alkyd coatings.
Key features:
- Available in colourless and green
- No thinning required; use Chromos-Svjetlost Synthetic Thinner for tool cleaning
- Covers 10 to 13 m² per liter in one layer (depending on wood absorbency and surface prep)
- Density: 0.86 kg/l
- Touch dry in 16 hours, fully dry in 24 hours (at 20°C, 65% relative humidity)
- Apply by brush, sponge, immersion, or pouring
Ideal for: New or restored wooden structures exposed to weather, before applying a finishing wood stain or pigmented alkyd topcoat.
Application conditions: Best applied between +10°C and +25°C, with relative humidity below 75%. Surfaces should be dry, clean, and free of dust, grease, or old flaking coatings before application.
Safety note: Solvent-based and prone to self-ignition on soaked fabrics; rags used with this product should be soaked in water or burned after use, and kept away from heat, sparks, and open flames.
